Empower Womens Equality Day With One Bold Act

Every year on August 26th, the world stops to acknowledge a defining moment in the history of human rights Womens Equality Day. This date marks the certification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920, granting women the right to vote.  However, the celebration is not confined to the US alone as a country. This day has become a global reminder that women’s equality is a continuing mission, not a concluded battle, an opportunity for women and allies to accelerate change.

Some progress has been made in regards to inequality. However, more needs to be done in different spectrums, which include wage gaps, underrepresentation in leadership, gender-based violence, lack of access to education and healthcare and societal discrimination.

According to the UN:
– Women represent 70% of the world’s poor.
– Globally, 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime.
– Women hold only 26.5% of parliamentary seats worldwide.

Despite telling a story of systemic challenges, these numbers also highlight opportunities for improvement.

Why One Bold Act Matters

Change does not always come through grand revolutions. Sometimes it starts with one person choosing to act boldly. One empowered voice becomes many, one lifted hand sparks another. This is where the power of giving comes in. Equality is not just discussed, but realized when we all engage in the act of giving – our time, voice, ideas, resources, etc.

Inspire: Giving as a Catalyst for Gender Equality

At 365give, we believe that small daily acts of giving can change the world, and Womens Equality Day is a perfect opportunity to amplify this mission.  Your ripple effect is profoundly felt when you give with intention and especially in support of women and girls.

Bold Act, Big Impact

Here are some bold acts that you can do this Womens Equality Day:

Use your voice to uplift a woman. That’s it; as simple and powerful as that.

This approach works because:

  • Affirmation builds confidence: A woman who hears that she is valued is more likely to believe it, pursue her goals and uplift others in return.
  • Visibility fosters equality: Shining a spotlight on women in leadership, entrepreneurship and community as a whole helps break the invisibility barrier that many face.
  • Advocacy changes systems: Speaking up for womens rights online, in your neighbourhoods, in meetings or within your circles helps shift mindsets and policies.

Real-World Examples of Bold Giving

1. Elevate with Encouragement

Start with women close to you. Tell your co-worker she’s doing a great job, let your sister know that her dreams are valid, compliment the young woman leading a student group or the mom juggling her career and family. It may seem small but it builds resilience and pride.

2. Champion Women-Owned Businesses

Support women entrepreneurs in your area or online. Share their posts, write reviews and make a purchase if you can. Economic empowerment is a direct path to gender equality.

3. Mentor a Girl

Offer guidance, share your knowledge or simply be a cheerleader. According to the Girls’ Index Report, girls who have a mentor are 2 times more likely to be confident.

4. Speak Up

Whether it’s on social media or in a staff meeting, call out inequality when you see it. Raise awareness about laws, rights and actions that protect or endanger women’s freedoms.

5. Donate or Volunteer

Support organizations that work for girls’ education, women’s health, domestic violence survivors or women in crisis. As little as one hour of your time can create a lasting impact.

Engage: Your 365Give Daily Giving Challenge

This year, make Womens Equality Day more than a celebration; make it a catalyst for long-term change. Start with one bold act and let it evolve into a daily habit of giving that supports gender equality.

Here’s Your 3-Day Giving Challenge for Womens Equality Day:

Day 1: Give Your Voice

Action: Post a message on your social media platform supporting Womens Equality Day. This can be achieved by using a quote, personal story or an inspiring message that uplifts women’s rights.

Why It Matters: Your voice can reach hundreds (or thousands) of people. Visibility brings awareness and awareness brings change.

Sample Post: “Today is Womens Equality Day. I’m raising my voice for every girl who deserves equal rights, opportunities and respect. One bold act can change everything.

Day 2: Give Recognition

Action: Publicly recognize a woman who inspires you. This could be a friend, teacher, leader or caregiver.

How: Send a text, write a thank-you note, post a tribute or tag them online with an appreciation message.

Why It Matters: Recognition strengthens confidence, belonging and motivates more acts of leadership.

Example: “To my sister: Your strength as an entrepreneur inspires me daily. Your light makes the world brighter. Thank you for showing me what courage looks like.”

Day 3: Give Opportunity or Opportunities

Action: Share a resource, opportunity or platform with a woman or girl.

Ideas: Share a scholarship link, nominate her for an award, recommend her for a job or invite her to speak at an event.

Why It Matters: Access is often the barrier between potential and success.  You can be the bridge.

Bonus: You can further elevate this by volunteering as a mentor or hosting a free workshop.
