Together We Can: Why Do1Give Day Matters Now

What is Do1Give Day and why does it matter right now?

Together We Can is more than a theme this year. It is a reminder that each of us has a role to play if we want a different world. Do1Give Day is how we can start. Do1Give Day is a global day where people choose to do one small act of giving, and when we take part together, something powerful happens – it spreads.

Do1Give Day is simple, accessible, and something anyone can take part in no matter where you live. What makes it powerful is not the size of the action, but how many people take part. It’s the social good movement that just keeps giving!

What you will learn in this article

  • What Do1Give Day is and how it started
  • Why this moment matters right now
  • How one small act of giving creates real impact
  • How you can take part this year

How did Do1Give Day Start?

Do1Give day was built on the simple idea that giving is possible for everyone and when we give together it can create a big impact. Together we can change the world.

In 2017, youth leaders from The West Vancouver Foundation wanted to do something to bring their small community together for good.

They created Do1Give Day in partnership with 365give. A simple idea everyone could be part of.

One day. One shared action. Share it, Watch it spread.

What started in one community has now spread across the world. Students, families, and communities are taking part together. Over the past year we have inspired hundreds of thousands of people globally to give.

Why Does Do1Give Day Matter Right Now?

There is a lot happening in the world.

  • War
  • Division,
  • Uncertainty
  • Huge change

Many people are asking what they can actually do that would make a difference. That would change anything. We think every person can make a difference. Every action does count but we know that no one person can change everything. But together we can.

Together we can come together on a global scale but in a way that works for you. It’s different for us all but it’s possible for us all.

What happens when we each do one small act of giving

When people come together, it adds up quickly.

In 2025 this is the impact we had together:

  • 35,000 people took part
  • 5.6 million people were reached
  • 37 countries joined
  • Participants reported feeling happier and more connected

One action leads to another. It spreads because giving is contagious! We aren’t making this up; science proves it.

How Can You Take Part in Do1Give Day?

Do1Give Day is about one action.

You can:

  • check in on someone
  • help a neighbour
  • include someone
  • support a cause

It is simple on purpose. That is what makes it work. But we have so much more coming for you! Guides, resources, endless ideas. Just sign up and we will get it all in your inbox!
