Share the Love on Valentine’s – No Roses Required

As Valentine’s Day approaches, it’s time to think differently about how we give and share the love. What if we made a shift from roses, chocolates, and big expectations to instead practicing and experiencing love daily? 365 days a year. Sound familiar? (365give)

On this month’s episode of The Human Impact Theory, we are going to explore love through a new lens with my dear friend and New York Times best-selling author Neale Donald Walsch. Thirty years ago, Neale’s book, “Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue” (me and millions globally as it was on the best seller list for 137 weeks), profoundly shifted my perspective on love. That shift not only influenced my life but also inspired the very foundation of 365give. Simply put, giving is love in action.

Watch the episode below and let us know how you will share love in a whole new way this Valentine’s Day!

Debunking Myths About Love: How to Share the Love Every Day

Love is often confusing, and we generally have a limited understanding and expression of it. Many of us only know what we have been taught or shown about love. Let’s clear up some common misconceptions:

  • Myth: Love is only an emotion. Truth: Love is an emotion, an action, and the core of who we are. It’s so much more than one thing; it’s everything.
  • Myth: Love is only about grand romantic gestures. Truth: It’s the small, daily actions every day that make us an expression of love and give us the ability to give it with no expectations.
  • Myth: Love is best expressed through expensive gifts. Truth: Acts of kindness and understanding are priceless.
  • Myth: Love needs to be celebrated only once a year. Truth: Every day is an opportunity to nurture and express love.
  • Myth: I love you if…… Truth: Pure love needs and expects nothing. It is unconditional. Love does not want someone to act or be a certain way. Pure love is accepting, limitless, and understanding.
  • Myth: Love is a trade deal Truth: Love is not a swap or trade. You do this, and the other person is expected to do something in return. Love is given freely with no expectations of anything in return.

Making Love a Daily Practice: Simple Ways to Share the Love

Integrating love as daily life practice doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s very natural for us. Here are simple, effective ways to make love a daily practice:

  • Start with giving love: Begin each day with a commitment to perform at least one small act of giving. Now you know why 365give started! It was our daily love practice!
  • Remember Your True Nature: Neale explains this perfectly in the podcast. We all start as little bundles of love as babies. We don’t’ know what hate is; we don’t know what it is to be not nice, or a bully, or worse. We have one simple goal as babies: to turn on everyone else’s love hormone—oxytocin! Babies make us all feel love when we see them, hold them, or even smell them. . Remember, that’s how we all started—life just helped us to forget.
  • How do I want to show up in the world? We all have a chance to create a living legacy. How do you want to show up in every minute? As love, peace, and happiness for everyone around you or the opposite? Every breath, every exchange with another person is our opportunity to share love and express love. What will you start to choose?

Learn All About Love – Beyond Conditional

Conditional love can restrain the free flow of genuine affection and connection. Let’s explore how to love unconditionally:

  • Understand unconditional love: Love without expecting anything in return.
  • Practice acceptance: Embrace loved ones as they are, without judgment or a need to change them.
  • Encourage growth: Support your own personal development and of those you love.

I asked Neale one final BIG question:

If love were a person, what would their message be to the world? His answer is so simple. Watch the episode to hear what he said.

❓ What would you say? We would love to hear your answer to our research study on love. It takes just a few minutes to fill out, and you can be part of a collective global study on love. We decided to imagine that Love was a person. This is how to show love in every moment of every day.

If Love Were a Person

Imagining love as a person can help us conceptualize its qualities:

  • What would love do? Always act with kindness and patience.
  • What would love say? Offers words of encouragement and support.
  • How would love respond? With understanding, not judgment.
