Day 219: Great Mom’s That Give Part 5: A Love NoteThis article is another piece in my Great Mom’s That Give series where I highlight a great social business called Little Jots. The idea is to leave notes of encouragement, love and empowerment to your child. Love this!I remember when I first became a Mom and I read all the “How to..” books. All the advice on not picking your child up all the time and letting them cry themselves to sleep. I think I did the opposite of what the books said. I showered my baby with more love than I ever knew I had in me. He is now 3 and I still do every day. He isn’t spoiled with love – instead he is openly affectionate and tells me with no prompting every day he loves me. This week I went to go visit the preschool he will be attending in the fall and I was already sad I was on the verge of loosing my baby boy. I then got a gift in my inbox from a Mother I have never met but she instantly touched me with her note. I knew she was my next “Great Mom’s that Give.” She shared her story of the business she has created that will help me to remind my son how much I love and value him even when he goes to school.Day 219: Give 219Love. Inspire. Encourage. Empower. Connect.Maria Freeman has a business called Little Jots. The name is very appropriate as it’s all about “jotting” little love notes to your children. She has created a kit that will allow you to give a special note to your child every day. As parents we are all busy and some days we are tired, stressed and forgetful. These little notes allow you to either write your child a special note or choose from a note that is already written that will be the “hug” you would like to give them when you aren’t there to do it personally. It just takes a second. Here are just a few ways Maria suggests to use the notes taken directly from her site:In your child’s backpack or lunch bag On a pillow On their breakfast/dinner plate Into an overnight bag In a book In their Christmas or Birthday gift box Anywhere; you are only limited by your imaginationThe kit comes with pre-written notes and blank notes depending on how much time you have before slipping it into their lunch box. Here are the 365give suggestions for “love notes” to write to you child on the Little Jots bank cards. You are my shining star! Here is a hug in your day for when you need it most You are so loved every minute of the day You are my greatest gift I love you as this _____________________ much! This is a wonderful “give” you can give your child any day, when you are away, when you are at work – or just because you want them to know how much you love them. The giving doesn’t end here. Little Jots has donated to Kids at Risk and a percentage of all sales go to BC Children’s Hospital. The site even has a fundraising idea that will help you kids raise money for their school.Thank you Little Jots for sharing the love and the hugs our children need for their lifetime.Time Commitment: 10 seconds to put leave a note for your child. Your kids are never to young or to old to give them a gentle reminder of how much you love them. I now am giving Little Jots to mom friends as hostess gifts as it truly is “the gift that keeps giving”. jacqueline on May 7, 2011 at 3:22 am Thanks Amy. I love that the gift that keeps giving.
