I Believe

I was running along the sea wall this morning. For those of you that are runners, you know the “zone” where you feel like anything is possible. I get my best ideas, inspirations and insights when I’m running. Something about the smell of the sea air mixed with the sweat dripping down your face and an adrenalin high that works for me.

I get my best 365give ideas when I’m running. I also listen to my ipod along the way with music that gets me in the right frame of mind. The inspiration for this post came to me today while listening to the song “I Believe” by Nikki Yanofsky. There was something so magical about this song over the time of the 2010 Olympics. Since I live in Vancouver I was able to be part of an amazing time in history. Every day we felt we were living in the most exciting place in the world. You have never seen Canadians so Canadian as you did over that time. Patriotism was at a high with houses decorated with flags, lights and Olympic rings. We never left the house without dressing in our Olympic gear.  The television was always tuned in just so you didn’t miss a historical moment.

As the song reads “the world brought together as one”. It’s a song I listen to now for the lyrics. I have posted a shorten version below.

This song reminds me that the world can come together and do great things. On the days I know this blog will be hard and I feel I’ve had enough, on the days I don’t feel like giving back and I feel like giving up, I will walk the sea wall and listen to this song. I will remind myself this world is much bigger than the little place I live in and people need my help and yours every day. I will keep going because I know the world needs my help and so many of us want to make it a better place.

I believe we can do this together. I believe the power is in all of us. I believe in you and I. We can create the change one day at a time.

“I Believe” Lyrics written by Stephan Moccio and Alan Frew shorten for this blog with 2010 Olympic video link to follow

There comes a moment when my heart must stand alone
On this lonely path I’ve chosen
like a house that’s not a home
sometimes when I feel I’ve had enough
and I feel like giving up
you willed me to be all I can be
now nothing can stop me

I believe in the power that comes
From a world brought together as one
I believe together we’ll fly
I believe in the power of you and I

This is the moment we have dreamed of all our lives
We’ll be the change we wish from others
We’ll stand tall for what is right
And in my heart there’ll be no doubt
The arms of the world will come reaching out
And embrace me to be all I can be
Now nothing can stop me

I believe the time is right now
Stand tall and make the world proud
I believe together we’ll fly
I believe in the power that comes
From a world brought together as one
