These Gives Deliver Happiness To Your Community

We are feeling that we need to deliver happiness to our communities again as cities start to look at managing COVID in different ways. Some communities are removing all COVID restrictions, some communities are looking at opening public spaces again. It is a nice feeling to think we can start giving in our communities after various lock downs and stay at home policies. Our communities need us! And all of us could do with a big dose of happiness on a grander scale!

These community giving ideas can be done formally with your local community club or group. Or they can be done informally with a group of friends or a few families. The purpose of all of these gives is to try and share your gives with as many people as you can! Try and touch people in your community with these giving ideas and spread some happiness! You will feel happy, those you receive your give will feel happy and those who witness your give will also feel happy. I feel that these public gives are to the power of three as they ripple through our communities!

Community Gives You Can Do As A Group – Deliver Happiness To Those Outside Your Giving Circle!

We have all been very good at giving to those close to us during the pandemic. I feel that this has been instrumental is getting us through these extraordinary times! One small give completed each day to a family member, friend or colleague has certainly been my magic potion to staying happy during the last two years and helped to maintain a balanced and healthy well being. Sure there were days that were harder than others, but when those days were hard, I found a give I could do to an animal, a person or the planet that made the day easier. But I am ready to bust out with my friends and my community group I have only seen on zoom and make an impact on myself, and my community. I am starting with some of these ideas and hope you will join in. Just a reminder, observe your local community COVID guidelines as you start to get out and about!

Pick Up Garbage In a Public Space

Choose a public space with a group of people and pick up garbage! During the pandemic this was a no-no as we were never quite sure how the virus was spreading. Scientists have identified how COVID spreads at this point, so put on some gloves, grab a bag and find a public space that needs a bit of TLC. Choose a beach, a play ground, a park. If everyone gathered a small bag of garbage the public space will be clean in no time!

Share a Meal, Baked Goods Or Treats with Others

Admittedly this is a favorite! Take baked goods down to the local fire house, police station or sanitation workers office. If the garbage workers come to pick up your garbage, hand them a treat, enough for the entire team! Take a tray of lasagna, a batch of cookies or a bag of fruit to a local shelter or community food bank for either the volunteers or those who are experiencing food insecurity. Have a buffet lunch with friends and share your specialty with those you have not seen for a while. This give has so many options! Pick people you know or pick people you don’t know.

Smile At Everyone You See!

When walking with our group smile at people you see and walk by. Say good morning or afternoon. After so many months of not being seen, a simple smile or hello makes people be seen and part of our communities. If you are still wearing a mask, wave to others so they know you are acknowledging them. This gesture will deliver happiness to others and to you!

Post Notes or Signs of Gratitude

This give just keeps on giving! IN our community during the pandemic and post pandemic, people have put signs up to say encouraging and grateful things. These have been directed to the animals, the planet and people. As we go back to school, to work and break out into our communities again, posting signs and notes of gratitude for those around us and the planet just brings a smile to everyone’s face! Make it simple. Post things like, I appreciate you, Our planet is beautiful, thank you trees for the shade, love nature, love others. You decide and post in public spaces; at school, at work or in parks.

Volunteer for A Day Each Month

Volunteering in person has been a challenge over the past two years and a lot of volunteers have gone online. Find a safe place to volunteer and go as a group. This group energy and having a lot of people to tackle a large task will help out so many organizations. Sort food at the food bank, help out at an animal shelter, see if a local community center needs some new paint to get them ready as they open back up to the public. Search around your area and get a bunch of people together to make a big job an easy task.

Do a Group Dog Walk

Our pets have felt as challenged as we have during city lock downs. A nice long walk in your neighbourhood is great for you and a doggy friend you may have. Go as a group and use this dog walk give to socialize, both for you and for the dogs!

Put a Big Heart In Your Window

This is a powerful give if you get everyone in your apartment building or neighbourhood to do the same. This give is simple. Draw, print, or create a heart for your windows and post them so people will see the hearts from the street. How great is it to walk down a street and see hearts in everyone’s window, or see a wall of hearts on every window in an apartment building. That vision brings a smile to my face before I even do this! Imagine how others will feel when they see it live in your community.

Take A Group Walk In A Local Park

Rain, sun or snow, take a walk outside with your group. Enjoy each others company, take in the natural sights of your community park, just be together in a beautiful space that is reflective of where you live! Getting outdoors is a great give to each other and yourself!

Find Your Community To Deliver Happiness

Not all of us have kept up with our communities during the pandemic. We have been busy, have had to change how we life and entertain ourselves, and most of all keep our distance to keep everyone healthy. With your masks on, it seems we are all ready to start managing COVID differently and start participating in small groups. Start messaging others and get them to start giving with you! Giving together is a wonderful way to start a new routine as communities come alive again and we can gather together safely. It has been too long since we conducted community activities so start by completing small acts of giving in your neighbourhood.
