Small Acts of Giving Everyday Makes Students Happier

Did you know that completing small acts of giving each day makes you happier? At times the stresses from school can lead to dwelling on the academic pressures and the worries, bringing our mood down. Spending too much time on our worries and anxieties can negatively affect not only our mental health but our physical health as well. However, there is one simple action that you can make to be happier. This is through the act of giving!

An article written by Catherine Pearson for the Huffington Post suggested five happiness hacks that will take five minutes or less. Two of these hacks are all about spreading kindness and giving! She also talks about the science of happiness and how giving increases our oxytocin and dopamine while decreasing cortisol (stress hormone), everything we need to make us happy!

Opportunities to Complete Your Small Acts of Giving are Everywhere!

As students, often we wonder how can we give back? However, the opportunities to spread kindness and give to others can be found anywhere.

Simple ways to give back at school could be holding the door for your teacher or fellow peers, helping to pick up something that fell on the ground or keeping the classroom clean; all of these are small acts of giving that would take no less than five minutes to do! However, giving is not limited to the school environment but some you can also give back at home. This includes helping to take out the trash at home or offering to help cook for dinner. You can also help to give back to Mother Earth by recycling or picking up trash that you found on the floor. The list is endless!

All in all, there are so many wonderful opportunities that you can give back to those around you which will not only help to brighten their day but can also put you in a happier mood.

Making Others Smile Will Make You Smile

By doing these small acts of giving to those around us, and realizing that despite how small these gives might be, they have major impacts. This can help put into perspective the power our small gives can have on the people around us. This can further empower us to do more for others as we realize that we can make positive change. This will not only help to make those around us happier but also makes us happier.

Although these simple actions ultimately aim to put a smile on others, they also help to put a smile on our faces too! By being kind to one another, can help us establish a social connection and bring us closer to one another. Especially during a time where we may feel distanced from one another, spreading kindness that brings us closer together can help us feel safe, secure, and loved.

Giving is such a wonderful and powerful action that can further promote feelings of love and happiness which very important to our social, mental, and emotional wellbeing. There is no need to hesitate, start with small acts of giving now to help boost your happiness and those around you!
