Make The New Year A Year of Giving-Be Happy Every Day

“Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” – Sally Koch

Looking to Stay Happy Every Day? Want to keep the HAPPY in Happy New Year every day in 2020. How? It is easier than you think. If you have been following 365give already, you know the secret to keeping happiness alive all year long. If this is your first time here, keep reading to find out how happiness can be a daily thing by doing one simple thing every day.

As people think through their goals for the New Year, pop one additional goal in there, give daily with with small acts of giving. This is way easier than going to the gym every day, or losing that extra weight we always think we need to get rid of, or planning that renovation that just seems overwhelming. Go ahead add those goals, but by the end of the year you will see which goal you achieved, and that one will be completing one small give daily to make you and others happier every day. What is amazing when you feel happy every day, those other goals just seem to get done. Truly they do. When you feel happy every day you go to the gym, you do lose those extra few pounds, you eat better, you sleep better and life is just that much easier. Happiness is an emotional and mental state of being content.  Happiness comes when you feel satisfied and fulfilled, that life is just as it should be. Imagine how things could change for you if you had a small bit of happiness, or a bit more happiness every day. Things around you would change on all levels, physically, emotionally and mentally. The hurdles we think we face every day shrink into tiny ant hills and feel less stressful than they did before. Life just seems manageable.

So to keep the happy in Happy New Year all year long we have a few simple giving ideas that you can do daily, or you can switch them up every week. How ever you choose to complete a small act of giving every day, Put it first on your list for things to do this 2020.

Share a 2019 Memory With Friends and Family

We all have photos in our phones, on our social media or stored in our computers. Share one photo memory with friends and family throughout the year. Add a caption like ‘So glad we did this together’ or “thanks for doing this with me’, or simply ‘I love this memory from 2019’. It is like sending a photo gratitude note to people you hang with. It just might prompt an opportunity to make more memories together in 2020.

Cut Out the Resolutions List and Make A Giving List

One of the resources our 365give members receive is a weekly giving list that helps you plan giving ideas. Sign up for a free membership and print off a few giving lists to keep you on track of your daily giving. We are all great at making very long New Years Resolutions lists, but seem to tuck these away not to be looked at until it is too late. Your weekly giving list makes it easy to give every day and keeps the habit going for 365 days. So this year, give to yourself by starting a weekly giving list. Find simple giving ideas on our website, and just fill in the list. Some giving ideas as smile at someone, buy a friend or colleague a coffee, walk instead of driving, pick up garbage in your neighbourhood or local park, turn off the water when brushing your teeth. Simple, easy gives that help people, the planet or animals.

Declutter In The New Year and Give Your Extras To Charity

Cleaning out a closet, kitchen cupboards, or a toy chests are a great way to start off the new year. If this is one of your habits, donate your gently used items to charity, a local shelter, or if you have canned goods from the kitchen, donate them to the local food bank. If you personally know of someone who could use your gently used items, donate to them directly.
