Day 80: It’s Party Time!

It’s party time! T’is the season to be jolly and have back to back holiday parties to attend. Each party is unique in its own way – new people, new location, interesting food but tonight I attended one that had a fresh twist. I truly admired this opportunity I was given for my GIVE of the day.
GIVE 80 / Day 80

My husbands office Christmas party was fast approaching. I was looking forward to meeting his team and having a night out with my husband. I got the official email “reminder noticed” yesterday noting the location, time and a little twist. They were asking everyone to bring non perishable food item to be donated to the Food Bank or a donation for the SPCA.

You know I was in! The party was last night and before I left I packed a bag of canned and jarred goods.  I was very proud to be part of an initiative through my husband’s office and had the opportunity to chat with the women who decided to include this GIVE for the party. She didn’t think anyone had remembered to bring anything until I let her know a number of us had remembered and even one can of food makes a difference to someone in need. It wasn’t the quantity that mattered but the thought and the initiative to help people GIVE.

If everyone did one gesture for their holiday party, encompassing a food bank, gloves or blankets for the homeless, or a toy for a child. What a Christmas it would be.

Please share your holiday party GIVES with us all. We would love ideas for the coming holiday as people come in and out of our homes.

Time Commitment: 3 minutes

Cost: $10 non perishable food items
