I #DareYou to Give Every Day With Dare2Give

This past week The Governor General of Canada David Johnston rolled out a new campaign called Dare2Give. It’s part of an initiative he launched called My Giving Moment. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate what Canadians are doing to give back both locally and globally.

At 365give we “dare” and empower elementary students to give every day. Last year participating schools completed over 400 daily gives that made a positive impact in their schools, community and the world. This year the giving movement is growing and students have already started their own Giving Campaigns that are changing the world one give, one day at a time.

One of our participating schools, Ridgeview Elementary in West Vancouver is getting a head start on their giving this year. Students joined the We Scare Hunger campaign initiated by Free the Children. This campaign has helped to make Halloween a time to give for students globally.

Millions around the world go hungry every day, even in our own backyard.” Free the Children.

Ridgeview students had a goal to “fill the truck” and collected over 250 pounds of food that was donated to Harvest Project – a community-based urban relief organization. Harvest Project touches more than 1000 people each month and provided over $600,000 (retail value) of food to local families and individuals last year.

Last year Canadian Food Banks supported over 310,000 children daily that would other wise go hungry. Students should be proud that they are helping make a difference to so many other children in need. Congratulations Ridgeview students for giving back to your community!
