Giving as a Proactive Strategy for Your Well-Being
When we use giving as a proactive strategy for our well-being, you will feel happier, part of your community, and positively effected yourself and others.
After the past few years, it’s easy to understand why many of us may be feeling less than fabulous. At 365give we are all about feeling good by doing good!
Being proactive means taking your happiness into your own hands with focused steps toward that nurture and look after your mental and spiritual needs. Let’s work together to make a proactive giving strategy that does just as much for our well-being as it does for others’.
It’s In The Small Things – A Proactive Strategy for Your Well- Being
365give is all about doing a little something for someone else every day. This could get awfully pricey if we were to buy gifts for people every day, so we have alternatives that are as impactful as giving gifts. The smaller things, the thoughtful actions really make a difference. It also lets everyone participate in a daily giving practice not just those who have some extra money to buy gifts or give donations. A gesture of kindness towards a stranger will elevate your own mood, and that of the person who receives your thoughtful give. Aren’t we all just wanting to feel good in our lives? Giving to others makes that happiness we are all looking for shine through!
Taking The Time to Listen
At work, home, or even when socializing with friends, it can be easy to get distracted – our thoughts can distract us or we distract others with our need to contribute to the conversation. Make an effort for one day or one whole week, to truly listen to what others are saying. Ask questions, dig deeper, allow the talker to feel heard. Even if they’re not saying something that seems particularly important or interesting to you – try it anyway and see how your interactions become more meaningful. Listening is possibly the best gift you can give another person and it’s completely free! If you’re lucky they may return the favour and closer friendships will be forged.
Give a Helping Hand to Someone You Love
This could be your friend, a neighbour you talk to, or a relative who has children (or fur-babies). We all appreciate a break sometimes. Giving someone you know a night off to go out, or a weekend to go away, without having to pay for a sitter, gives them an unexpected gift and a gift of happiness. The gift of your time will be helping someone who you care for and that feels wonderful. Bonus feel-good points; kids/pets can be lots of fun to be around if you plan some engaging games to play with them.
