Give 50: The Shop-aholic

Donate and Save!

Happy National Philanthropic Week on 365give! To celebrate this special week I am on a mission to find retailers and products that give back by just shopping with them continues this week this GIVE.  Today’s GIVE is brought to you by my husband David because he needed a new pair of boots. My husband likes to shop, I think it is called retail therapy. He works very hard and he doesn’t have time to shop a lot, but when he needs something he likes to buy quality products that have great fashion appeal and will last a long time. He has a few favourite stores that carry just the right style which he knows he can go into and find exactly what the wants without time consuming shopping.

David works in the television industry and has to be outside on shoots come rain, shine or snow. This year he needed some warm winter boots to get him through the cold days outside. So he went to his favourite store Moule to find some new winter boots.

Give 50 / Day 50

My husband came home after his shopping trip and was very excited to tell me he had done his GIVE of the Day. He had bought a pair of winter boots he loves and received a great discount. I wasn’t sure how he had accomplished all that in one store so I waited to hear his “giving” story.

Moule is a small retail chain across Canada that carriers a range items from clothing to house wares and toys. It has wonderful unique items you can’t find just anywhere. For this holiday season they have initiated a promotion in their stores to help people in need. They are making a GIVE very easy if you have any holiday shopping to do or need that perfect outfit for an up coming party. .

All you have to do is bring in an old coat or pair of boots and you will receive a 20% discount on your purchase of a pair of new boots. Your clothing donation will be given to the street youth at Covenant House. Their mission is simple ” to serve suffering children of the street, and protect and safeguard all children…with absolute respect and unconditional love.”

We have been shopping at Moule since we moved to Vancouver 4 years ago and this is the first time we have seen a promotion like this one in their store.

My husband felt so good about bringing in his old boots (that were still in good shape) knowing they would be warn once again by someone that really needed them. This also means one less pair of boots to go into a landfill! A double GIVE!.

Way to go Honey! Your GIVE of the Day is complete and you have help both the planet and a person that will appreciate wearing your boots this winter.

Time Commitment: 5 minutes to find an old pair of boots (or a coat) and bring it into the store

Cost: Money saved!
