Day 94: What New Mom Really Needs!

I will never forget what it’s like to be a Mom with a newborn. Your world is rocked in ways you can never imagine. All the luxury of time is gone – forever. You never really get it back, it changes and evolves from official diaper changer to designated chauffeur. Since I am an adoptive mother I don’t have the luxury of planning ahead for a baby but I also don’t have to go through the physical challenges / recovery that a birth mother has to go through. I could get a call one day and 4 days be a Mom again. I have realized you don’t really need for much for a baby other than a good cradle / crib, cloths and the food of your choice (breast milk or formula). As much as babies don’t need for much, Mothers need as much support as they can get. I found the perfect gift for a friend that I think will be exactly what she needs when her soon to be baby arrives in just a few weeks. It may not fall under the “Ethical Gift” umbrella but it does fall under the “greatest gift for a new Mom” category.

Day 94: Give 94

When I had my first child I read the necessary books, went through checklists for everything I might need. Some spend a small fortune on items they either don’t use or barely use and someone throws a wonderful baby shower with more stuff that is really not needed for an infant.
Now I’m working on number two I have two things on my wish list as gifts:-
A dog walker for two weeks
A cleaning lady every week for a year.
Forget the cute clothes and toys our child won’t even pick up for months – get me the support I need to get through ever day especially with two kids!
My girlfriend is just about to have her second child and I decided to take my own advice and get her a cleaning lady. Oh! to have your home cleaned by someone else even once is such a treat! They are in and out in a couple of hours and your home smells fresh and the floors are safe for your children to eat off again. ( which when you have a toddler they tend to eat just about anywhere).
The best part of this GIVE – I bought this rare treat for my “Mommy” friend on a site called Social Vibe. This site makes deals with all different services and retailers, negotiates a great price (anywhere from 50 % – 75% discounts) and every day emails you their “deal of the day.” There is another one called Groupon that is excellent as well. I have bought coupons for cleaning services, hair salon services, hotel deals, spa services, adventures – even deals for KIVA. The next time you want to buy a friend a special service take a look at these sites. It’s legitimate and great value. Especially if your friend is pregnant or a Mom, this has services that are right up her alley and so needed!

Time Commitement: 5 minutes
Cost: $50.00 baby gift (for Mom)
