Have you ever had a time in your life when something so devastating happened to you didn’t know how you would get through the day? If so read on as this may help. I found a way to help with grief – you give.
Day 286: Give 286
Today’s post was suppose to have a different title. I had it all planned. It was to be one of the happiest days of my life and instead is one of the saddest. My husband and I were on the verge of adopting our second child. A little new born baby boy. As I write this I should instead be at the hospital picking him. But things happen with adoption and yesterday it all went sideways and the adoption got cancel. We are heart broken. The crib had to be taken down and all the baby cloths put away.
Why am I sharing this with so many people? I found a way to help my grief and I am hoping it will help you.
I had a choice to make this morning when I woke up. I could still be in bed rolled up in a ball wallowing in my grief or I could do something to give back to help make me feel better. I made the choice to give.
365give is about giving everyday no matter what happens in your life. Giving doesn’t just make the receiver feel better but it makes you feel better. It takes a terrible situation and turns into a little good. Finding the good can be a tough thing when you feel sorry for yourself and in this case, for an innocent child.
Today I made a donation to the Dave Thomas Foundation Canada. This little boy that did not come home today to our family will now be in foster care until many things get sorted out. It is one of the reasons I am so sad.
As quoted from the Dave Thomas Foundation “We are firmly committed to continue our founder’s vision and belief that all children deserve the love and support of a permanent family.”
Dave Thomas owner of the Wendy’s chain was adopted himself and started this organization to help children find that forever family.
Over 78,000 are in foster care in Canada and 30,000 of those are free and available for adoption.
I hope one day the opportunity will arise that we will be able to adopt again. I am already an adoptive mother of one beautiful little boy and I believe in my heart one day he will have a brother or sister. Giving does help even on the days you don’t think you can handle doing anything for another person. Grieving takes time to recover from but in the mean time I will keep giving in hopes to make just one other persons life a little better.
Time Commitment: 2 minutes to make a donation
Cost: A cash donation
Long distance hugs to you, Jacqueline. And to that little baby.
I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs to all. Thanks for giving even in your grief. It is an age old spiritual truth that in helping others we find ourselves. Your story today reminds us of the deep truth of that.
We are so very sad to hear of this awful disappointment for you. Our thoughts are with you, and of course the child who still faces an uncertain future.
Jacqueline and family,
Sending love and hugs to you…
And in all of this, you just continue to shine your light out into the world in beautiful ways – what a gift that is…
Dear Jacqueline and family
I am so sorry to hear this terrible news. My heart is breaking for you and all those involved. Life is so terribly difficult sometimes. Wishing you brighter days ahead. You are inspiring. Big hugs
Louise, Declan and Callum.
