Day 280: Give & Tonic Anyone?

What does a Give & Tonic have to do with each other? They actually make the perfect daily cocktail of kindness, giving, good deeds and random acts of kindness. Today I “did the deed” on Tonic to share the goodness.

Day 280: Give 280

One of my goals for 365give is to help inspire people to give more in their lives. I want to show people new ways to give, easy ways to give and fun ways to give every day.

I found a site called Tonic that I can tap into everyday for just that inspiration. Tonic has a daily “Deed” that gives back in all kinds of ways. It’s social, interactive and every time you complete a “Deed” for the day a donation is made in your honour.

Here is what they are all about quoted directly from their site.

” Tonic is by definition anything morally, mentally, or physically inspiring. Tonic is a platform for brands (consumers, celebrities and causes) to educate, interact and engage consumers around positive actions. We started as a destination for good news content, now we want to generate news of its own by bringing together the worlds of Silicon Valley, Madison Avenue, Philanthropy and Hollywood. At Tonic, we also see ourselves as a service company — one that strives not only to inspire our readers, but to equip them with the resources to make a difference.”

The deed I completed was to “Drop That Burger & Go Vegan for a Day.” Why vegan? How does that give back?

“While a vegan diet may seem extreme or hard to follow, they have a pretty great rep for being healthy, easy on the environment and of course, a friend to the animals.”

Going vegan for a day was easy. My family is all about salads for dinner in the summer. We threw in some grilled marinated tofu and we were all set. Yum! Even my 3 year son loves it. We are dairy free at home due to food allergies so alternative milks are a part of our every day lives.
Every day a new “Good Deed” comes up so check it out, sign up and record your deed. Every “Good Deed” is counted and adds to the running total of funds being donated.
Here are the total “Good Deeds” to date:

$605,369 dollars donated
35840 Deeds Completed
4739 Doers

Be part of the giving team at Tonic and tell us what Deed is your favourite this week.
