Day 244:Have You Ever Received by Giving?

Have You Ever Received by Giving? Today I did receive by giving and loved it! I dont plan this it just happened and proves that giving does not need to be planned for it to be a great give.

I often get asked if I plan my giving every week, or month. I dont plan my gives to receive either. Most days I don’t have a plan at all. I try to find the things in my everyday life that give me the opportunity to give. Part of my mission with 365give is to help make people realize that the opportunity to give does happen every day. You don’t have to have a big plan to give you just need to keep you eyes wide open and look for the opportunity. Today my $2.00 give gave back to me as soon as I did it.

Day 244: Give 244

I am the Queen of grocery shopping. Food happens to be one of my passions so shopping for groceries isn’t a major chore for me. I do have a pet peeve. I’m not crazy about going to grocery stores that you have to put money into a cart so you can use one. I understand the concept but I swear every time I go to a store that uses this system I don’t have the correct change needed to get a cart. When shopping with a 3 year old a cart is a must. Today I had to go to a big box type grocery store called the Real Canadian Super Store. As I said I am a bit of a foodie and I tend to gravitate towards smaller stores that focus on beautiful food rather than the big stores that you end up spending 2 hours in and buying far more than you need. Today I was happy to be checking out and my opportunity to give got me at the check out counter.

For just a $2.00 donation I got a worthy new addition to my key chain. It is a small token the exact same size as a loonie.(Canada’s $1 coin) This token attaches directly to my key chain so every time I visit a store that I have to pay for a grocery cart my President’s Choice Children’s Charity loonie is right there to grab and put into the cart. I gave and I received. No more looking for change for my grocery cart and I gave to a charity that truly gives.

I have given many times while checking out at a store to different charities. I wasn’t clear what the President’s Choice Children Charity did exactly and I was so impressed and happy to have donated to such a worthy cause. Here are just a few facts about what the organization and what they have accomplished.

President’s Choice® Children’s Charity granted $8.9 million to more than 1,600 families across Canada and $1 million to Breakfast for Learning
Since 1989 President’s Choice® Children’s Charity has granted more than $46 million to more than 6,500 families

The Mission:

“President’s Choice® Children’s Charity is dedicated to helping children who are physically or developmentally challenged. Our aim is to remove some of the obstacles that make everyday living difficult and to provide these young people with a renewed sense of dignity, independence and freedom. They are the National Premier Sponsor for Breakfast for Learning. Both organizations share a vision dedicated to improving the lives of children across Canada. Nutrition is fundamental to children’s health and President’s Choice® Children’s Charity wants to provide the resources necessary to fuel a better learning environment.”

The Weston Family who own this large chain store along with many others have obviously made much money through their company. These are the stories of how they give back that I like to share. We all have the ability to give in different ways and this family has found a way to work with their customers to make a great impact on children and family across Canada.
