Day 176: Twestival Vancouver Donate $10 Today!

Twestival Vancouver

For many of us today it will be an easy day to GIVE. Just by tweeting I will feel like I am giving back.  I am new to tweeting this year so it is my first official Twestival and I am excited to do what I can to support our local Vancouver cause Beauty Night Society. I just did a post on Day 161 featuring Executive Director Caroline MacGillivray. Take a minute and read what Twestival is all about and how you can be part of one of the fastest growing global movements.

Day 176: Give 176

Here’s the back story taken directly from the Twestival 2011 site.

It started with a single tweet

“Twestival® (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good by connecting communities offline on a single day to highlight a great cause and have a fun event. Twestival is the largest global grassroots social media fundraising initiative to date. Since 2009, volunteers have raised close to $1.2 million for 137 nonprofits. All local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.

Twestival was born out of the idea that if cities were able to collaborate on an international scale, but work from a local level, it could have a spectacular impact. Over 200 international cities from Buenos Aires to Bangalore, Seattle to Seoul and Hong Kong to Honolulu have participated in Twestival.”

Tweet global act local. We can all participate. Find your local event and buy a ticket, tweet it and donate to it. Twestival Vancouver sold our weeks ago so attending for me is not possible but I will make a donation to Beauty Night and will be tweeting up a storm tomorrow. The fundraising goal for Vancouver is $8000 and they are at $4200 this morning. Let’s all donate $10 today and in no time we can not only achieve but exceed the goal for Vancouver Twestival.

Time Commitment: Tweet all Day!

Cost: $10.00
