Complete These Animal Gives To Celebrate #LoveYourPetDay

It’s #LoveYourPetDay!

Many of us refer to our pets as our best friends. Although they may have more than two legs (or no legs at all if you are a fish owner), we know that a pet is no less of a valuable family member. If you are looking for an opportunity to give back to your dog, cat, fish, bird, hamster – or any other animal you care for – now is the time.

Read on for a list of 5 animal gives you can do for your pets on #LoveYourPetDay, or on any day of the year.

Spend Time with Your Pet

The best way to celebrate #LoveYourPetDay is to spend the day with your beloved pet. Whether it’s cuddling on the couch for a movie marathon, or going for a run or walk outside if you are a dog owner, spending quality time with our animal friends can be extremely meaningful. Not only does this make them feel loved and appreciated, but our interactions with pets also help reduce our own stress levels or anxious thoughts, and tend to ease feelings of loneliness.

Spoil Your Pet

#LoveYourPetDay is the day to spoil your favourite animals – perhaps by treating them to a longer walk or a favourite meal or treat, or playing with them with their favourite toy. Even an extra cuddle works!

Organize an Animal Spa Day

If you really want to pamper your pet, if you are the owner of a dog or cat, try out a spa day complete with a cozy animal bed, a massage, or even a full grooming or pedicure. Even animals need a day of relaxation.

Donate to a Pet Charity

This year, on #LoveYourPetDay, consider donating to a local or international animal charitable organization to give back to your own pet and other animals around the world. A good place to start is your local animal shelter or rescue, which can usually be located with a quick google search. You can even go a step further and inquire about any volunteer opportunities that may be available.

Interested in donating to a global animal organization? Some international charities that support animal protection and animal rights include Best Friends Animal Society, SPCA International, and World Animal Protection.

Adopt or Foster a Pet on #LoveYourPetDay

If you do not currently own a pet and are wondering what it might be like to care for one, adopting or fostering an animal might be an option. First, check out your local animal shelter or rescue. Be prepared to fill out an application, and consider the long term financial commitment. Although the adoption process can be lengthy, providing a home and care for an animal in need is absolutely worth it. This is an amazing give for Love Your Pet Day.
