Day 177: Boom Boom Your Way to Giving

I was fortunate to come across a company recently that is doing some great things. They are all about giving which obviously would catch my attention.. They have created a giving game called BoomBoom Cards. This company took the Random Acts of Kindness concept and has turned it into a “card” game that is fun and trackable. I thought the idea was so creative I ordered 2 decks to try them out and see how I can get my gives to travel around the world.

Give 177 / Day 177

I love discovering how other people are creating unique and innovative ways to give. BoomBoom Cards really caught my eye during Random Acts of Kindness Week. This is a great game that you could do yourself, with your children or a class. Each card gives you an act of kindness to perform or you can choose one of your own and make a personal card. Here’s the catch. Each card has a registration number. All you do is sign in online and register your card. Here’s the fun – you send it out to your favourite person and ask them to also perform the act and track it from the BoomBoom site. They then repeat this process by mailing it to their chosen person. Boom Boom! You can track your give and watch it the kindness travel around the world.

Here’s the added bonus. When you purchase a deck of cards you can register your entire deck with your own personal profile and 10% of each purchase will be donated to a charity you can hand pick personally from the list of not-for-profits provided on the site. The giving just keeps going. I chose a great organization called Karimu International Help Foundation started by a husband and wife team whose mission is to “provide funds to schools and other community projects enhancing the well-being of rural villages in the developing world.”

So finally, what card did I choose for my BoomBoom Act of the day?

Flower your friends or neighbours!

1) Get a plant or bouquet of flowers.

2) Quietly place the item on their doorstep.

3) Ring the doorbell and run away!

This card was perfect for today as I had a friend that underwent some recent surgery and a little pick me up would be just the thing to brighten her day.

Card 1 completed and now I get to send it forward. This is an easy one. It’s going to LA! My sister loves both giving and receiving flowers so she’s up next to do a Boom Boom!

I will feature one BoomBoom card every week for the next few weeks. You will be able to track my cards on the BoomBoom Cards site. Happy Booming!

Decks may be ordered online through BoomBoom Cards or also another great Vancouver based site called Giving Gifts.

Time Commitment: 1/2 hour

Cost $10 flowers
