310: How Many People Purchase an Item at Ikea Every Day?
Purchase an Item at Ikea and give back. Imagine if all customers completed their daily give at Ikea this holiday season. But how many gives would that be? Interesting question don’t you think. How many people shop at Ikea per week? I suppose it depends on the day. I would think Mondays are much slower than a Saturday at Christmas. Let’s take an average week in a store. 1000 purchases? 10,000 purchases? 50,000 purchases? What if every person that made 1 purchase at Ikea donated $1.00.
Day 310: Give 310
I try to avoid large stores at all cost with my 3 year old. Forget the stimulation for him the stimulation for me tends to be a bit overwhelming. But every now and them there is a need that only one place can fulfil and that is Ikea. It seems that not only do I feel this way but most of upper Vancouver (Coquitlam) also think the same way. This post is is not about my shopping habits but about my giving habits.
Ikea has partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation and it’s customers to help children that need our support.
“At IKEA Coquitlam, children are the most important people in the world. To fulfill our vision of creating a better everyday life for the many, we have partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Canada as our charity of choice for our local charitable initiatives. Our store will be helping Make-A-Wish® grant room makeover wishes to children living with life-threatening medical conditions in the communities we serve. By aligning our expertise in home furnishings with the Foundation’s experience in making wishes come true, together we can make a huge difference in the lives of Canadian children and their families.”
This partnership made my shopping trip all worth while. I was cashing out (self serve station) and the screen automatically asked me if I would like to make a donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation. How could I resist. I took the approach that a favourite social media giving campaign takes – just give $1.00. Philanthroper does this every day on their site. The ask everyone to donate $1.00 to the designated “cause of the day” and it quickly a group donation adds up. So let’s do some math.
If 10,000 people + 1 purchase with a $1.00 donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation = $10,000 donation in just one week.
Now my numbers may be way off on how many people actually make a purchase at Ikea weekly (Google just couldn’t tell me the answer!) but you get the idea. In just a few short weeks Make-A-Wish Foundation in partnership with Ikea and us – the customers can make a huge impact to children that need a wish to come true in their lives.
When a retailer gives you the opportunity to give take it. Whether it’s $1.00 or $10.00 or more just do it. Together we can make a huge impact.
