recommend a give

365 days can be a  long time in one persons life. A lot can happen in 365 days.

If I look at my wish list for the next 365 days and it covers just about everything from adopting my second child, buying a new house, traveling the world (or at least some of it)  and making 365give a world wide movement. I’m tired already and I still haven’t done the grocery shopping for the week, made the beds yet today, walked the dog, given my son breakfast and …….

As you can see I need your help. I am ambitious and I would like to “give”, in as many different ways as possible in the next 365 days. I have already asked my family and friends for their ideas so now I am asking you.

Send me your ideas.

  • A Give of the Day. An idea for something I could add to my “give” list or my calender for a future “give” date.
  • Share your story of a “give” that I may be able to do here in Vancouver.
  • Send me a link or some information on a charity / not-for-profit organization or company that is doing something you think is fantastic that gives back to the world.

Keep an eye out to see if I incorporate your idea into a “give of the day” and I will recognize you personally in the post as my inspiration.

Every year in early summer I notice many baby maple trees growing.
Most of these get mowed down, kaput, the end.
This year I dug up 3 baby trees,2 maples and 1 mystery tree and put them in pots on the balcony of the apt I live in.
They are thriving and next year I will do the same with even more trees.
Then I intend to plant them where they will have a chance or give them to anyone
    who wants trees for free.

Hi, I would like to recommend doing a book drive for the African Library Project. It’s about a six week project to collect 1000 books and $500 for shipping to start a library in Botswana, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, or Swaziland.
It might be a little more complicated for you to do it in Vancouver because you would first have to ship the books to New Orleans, but it is possible and even easier for your readers who live in the US.
Thanks for your inspirational blog and for your small and large acts to make the world a better place.

What a fantastic project! Count me in I will be helping. I will post about the project very shortly and let you know what I can do to help. Having a 3 year old I know how important it is to make sure children have books to read. Great to hear from you!

    Hi Jacqueline!

I just love what you are doing – it’s wonderful platform to promote all these awesome organizations that do good!

I do have a tip/recommendation for you… I’m the volunteer President for Vulnerable Children Society. We sponsor kids and familys in Ethiopia so that AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children can stay in their communities while receiving medical care, food, and the chance to go to school.

We work with an amazing Ethiopian organization… on the Canadian side we are all volunteers, mostly moms who are committed to the welfare of children.

It would be awesome if you would like to profile us. We have a couple of videos (look under the communications tab), a facebook page etc. and I would be happy to answer any questios to do a write up.

    Thanks for consideration!!!

    Hi!

I think is idea is amazing and it shows that you don’t have to be a super star to give back to this world!

I wanted to recommend an organization to you…its called the Batonga Foundation and you can check them out here: batongafoundation.org

It was created by the amazing musician Angelique Kidjo and they help African girls in Ethiopia, Mali, Benin, Sierra Leone and Cameroon go to school. Whether it is financial assistance through scholarships, life assistance through mentorship programs or simply providing a support system for these girls Batonga is on it! I have the pleasure of working for them and I can tell you from experience that this organization is truly genuine and wants nothing more but to empower African girls through education. We want to help these future leaders fulfill their highest potential and change the world.

I hope you like what you see when you visit and I hope you can recommend us on you website! Feel free to contact us @ info.batongafoundation.org

Thank You and keep up the great work!!
